Liwanag Recovery ("we", "us") provides information and peer-support signposting for adults in the Philippines worried about gambling. This page explains, in plain language, what information we receive, what happens to it, and what we don't do with it.

1. Information we receive when you visit

When you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically receives standard request metadata such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages viewed. This is normal Web behaviour and used for security and basic performance monitoring.

You do not need to create an account.

2. The AI chat — what happens to what you type

The website's only interactive surface is a chat with Liwanag, our AI care companion (powered by a third-party large language model provider, currently DeepSeek).

3. What is forwarded to our care team

If — and only if — you tell the AI you would like a human listener to reach you, the AI will collect from you in chat:

The AI also writes a short 2–3 sentence summary of what you shared, for the care team. That summary, your contact details, and your visit metadata (timestamp and IP) are sent over a private channel to our care team. The full chat transcript is not forwarded.

Your contact details are used only for the care team to reach you once. They are not sold, traded, or used for marketing.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We may use a small number of cookies and local storage entries to remember basic site preferences, to measure how visitors discovered the site (via Facebook Pixel or Google Analytics, if configured), and to improve page performance through caching.

5. Crisis situations

If the AI detects what it believes to be a crisis (suicidal ideation, self-harm, immediate danger), it will show you free 24/7 crisis hotlines (NCMH 1553, In-Touch, 911) and stop the rest of the flow. No contact information or summary is forwarded to our team in crisis situations — those are handled by the proper crisis services, not by us.

6. Third-party advertising platforms

If you reached the site from a paid social or search advertisement, the advertising platform (such as Facebook / Meta) may set its own cookies in your browser in order to measure ad performance. You can manage these settings within your account on the respective platform.

7. Not a medical record

Liwanag Recovery is an information and peer-support service. It is not a clinical provider and does not maintain medical records. For clinical care, our team may refer you to licensed mental-health professionals.

8. Your choices

You can simply not start the chat, or close it at any time. If you already shared contact info, you can email us to ask that we delete it before the team reaches out. You can clear cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of personalised advertising via your advertising platform account.

9. Contact

For privacy questions, please reach us through the contact channel provided when the care team gets in touch.
